Where The Permit Test uses AI and how we keep it accurate and safe.

Where We Use AI

AI assists three parts of The Permit Test: (1) the AI Tutor, which analyzes your practice performance to generate study recommendations and plans; (2) drafting assistance for educational content such as explanations and memory techniques; and (3) flashcard scheduling logic informed by your results.

Human Review

All educational content — including AI-assisted drafts — is reviewed by humans against official sources (state driver handbooks, the MUTCD, NHTSA guidance) before publication. AI never publishes unreviewed factual claims about traffic law.

Your Data and AI

Tutor features process your study statistics (scores, categories, missed questions). When third-party AI providers are used, we send only that study context — never your identity or payment information — and we do not permit providers to train on your data.

Limitations

AI-generated recommendations are study guidance, not legal advice. If an AI explanation ever conflicts with your state's official handbook, the handbook is correct — and we'd appreciate a report so we can fix it.
