The Permit Test exists to do one thing better than anyone: get new drivers through the knowledge test with understanding that lasts beyond exam day. We combine original practice content with learning science — spaced repetition, active recall, and targeted feedback — so studying takes less time and sticks longer.

Our editorial process

1. Source from official material. Every fact traces to public official sources: state driver handbooks, the MUTCD (the federal standard for traffic signs and signals), and NHTSA safety guidance. We never copy questions or explanations from any test-prep product.
2. Write original questions. Our questions, answers, explanations, examples, and memory techniques are written in-house. Each question must teach something — a question you miss should be worth more to you than one you get right.
3. Review for accuracy. Rules that vary by state (BAC limits, parking distances, curb colors) are flagged in the content itself and pointed back to the official handbook.
4. Update on a schedule. State exam parameters (question counts, passing scores, permit ages) are re-verified on a recurring review cycle documented in our content plan.
